Victorian Greyhound Inkwell, Brass Greyhound On A Lead Crystal Inkwell
Very Unusual Victorian Inkwell from the estate of Gloria Reese.
Featuring a seated greyhound sitting atop a lovely square barley twist inkwell.
A dog lover since childhood, Mrs Reese started showing after her marriage to steel magnate Nathan Reese in 1946. She was involved in many breeds and won Top Dog all breeds with the Dobermann Ch Galaxy’s Corry Missile Bell in 1973, the Greyhound Ch Aroi Talk Of The Blues (‘Punky’, long the all-time top winning hound in America) in 1976, and the Bouvier des Flandres Ch Galbraith’s Ironeyes in ‘90. All three also won the group at Westminster – Punky twice.
Mr Reese often accompanied Gloria to the shows and loved the dogs almost as much as she did. The Reese motorhome was larger than most people’s house and equipped with every possible convenience. It was generally agreed that if there is a second life, coming back as one of Gloria and Nat Reese’s dogs would not be a bad thing at all!
