Danish Blue Porcelain Dog Plates by Scan-Lekven Design

I am very excited to be offering these gorgeous Danish Blue Dog plates.  I am half Danish myself and remember as a child collecting the Blue Christmas plates, one every Christmas.

For dog lovers these are absolutely fantastic. There are over 600 plates to choose from, depicting nearly every dog breed in the world, hand painted by artists that have had their work approved by international dog show judges.

The company was founded in 1973. All the production takes place at the Scan Lekven factory in Denmark. The production has it's roots in old porcelain tradition. The plates are made by hand, and are fired at high temperatures in the special kilns at 1250 oC. The firing process takes 24 hours which is the only way to achieve the exquisite blue underglaze. The plates are made from the finest European porcelain. Each of the designs is carefully made according to the original drawing from the artist.

The diameter of the plates is 19.5cm (8") Pre-drilled for easy hanging, you will find the name of the breed and the artist on the back of each plate. All plates and mugs are dishwasher and microwave safe.
